Stephen Clark
Stephen John Clark was born in 1970, in a small coal-mining town in County Durham, in the North East of England. He has participated in the activities of the Leeds Surrealist Group since 1994, a year after it was founded by Kenneth Cox, Bill Howe and Sarah Metcalf. He has written for and edited Manticore, the Leeds Surrealist Group’s broadsheet.
His drawings, poetry, fiction and articles have been published in several international surrealist journals including Analogon (Prague), S.U.R.R. (Paris) and Salamandra (Madrid). He has started to appear more frequently in exhibitions in France, Spain and particularly the Czech Republic where he has recently been invited to exhibit with the Czech and Slovak Surrealist Group in 2008.
While currently writing his first novel he is producing illustrations for publication. He has also provided record cover art for Sharron Kraus, Glissando, Bagio, Jazzfinger and Her Name is Calla. The Bridge of Shadows, a book combining Stephen Clarkâs poetry and Bill Howe’s photography, will be published by SURREALIST EDITIONS 13th October 2007.
