Excerpts from Artist Statement:

I am interested in emblematic and allegorical self-portraiture of an emotionally intimate nature. My images serve as protection devices that allow me to analyze my own experiences and emotions.

If I am able to project and capture the constantly changing impression of an idea that I have in my mind into/onto something tangible it allows me to experience the matter in its full spectrum.

Concerning my series of representations of female sexuality, violence and aggression…
I am particularly interested in how certain prominent female figures in myth and folklore have been represented in paintings throughout history. Many of these females (stories) have been depicted so many times that the figure itself has become a sort of symbol in my mind. By placing myself in the role of these iconic figures I am exploring their significance to my understanding of my own aggression and sexuality.
